Spring brings Sporting Events

georgiasports.blogspot.com Watch in “High Quality” it’s MUCH better that way. (Obviously this isn’t the official scoreboard video) I took last year’s UGA pre-game scoreboard video, and I edited it to the full length of Nickelback’s version of Elton John’s Saturday Night’s All Right for Fighting. Plus, I added more Munson and Scott Howard highlight clips. The audio transition at the beginning is a little dicey, but it’s not that bad. I got all the clips I wanted except for the Mikey Henderson catch against Bama. Several UGA vs. LSU clips were added as well as several Auburn 2007 Blackout Highlights. Plenty of Knowshon Moreno and Matthew Stafford clips as well including the Celebration vs. the Florida Gators. Go Dawgs. College football can’t get here soon enough.

Spring brings Sporting Events

Spring is eventually here! With Spring comes flowers, green grass and sunlight and it brings us my fave sporting events. Big league Baseball starts with the New York Yankees defending their World Series Championship. All of the other groups will be attempting to chase the Yankees. Will this years surprise team be the Boston Red Sox, los angeles Dodgers, St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago pups or the Cincinnati Reds? Will a heavy outside bet like the Atlanta Braves or Tampa Bay Rays or Minnesota Twins have a breakout year?

The NHL playoffs start and this year will the Pittsburgh Penguins defend the Stanley Cup or will the challengers come from a list that includes, The Detroit Red Wings, San Jose Sharks, Chicago Blackhawks or the Boston Bruins.

Does the winner come from the Big Ten’s Ohio State Buckeyes, Michigan’s Wolverines, Michigan country’s Spartans or perhaps the Iowa Hawkeyes or Purdue Boilermakers will ultimately get over the hump. Can

BCS Predictions: 2010 Tennessee Volunteers

BCS Predictions: 2010 Tennessee Volunteers

It’s been a wild two years for the Tennessee Volunteers who in 2008 were preparing for what turned out to be the disastrous final season of the Phil Fulmer era. Last year Lane Kiffin became the “Mouth of the South” as a brash, trash talking recruiting machine that coached the Vols up to a better than expected 7-6 straight up record, with 7 payouts against the spread in college football betting odds and a bowl berth in the Chick-fil-A, which turned out to be a blowout loss to Virginia Tech. The 2010 Tennessee Volunteers are listed at online sportsbooks as a +8000 longshot in 2011 BCS college football picks to win the national championship and 18-1 to win the SEC conference.

After Kiffin did such a great sales job with recruits, he later had to bail by police escort out of Knoxville as he took the vacant job at Southern Cal where he was an assistant previously in the Pete Carroll national champion ship years as a key recruiter. Kiffin said that

Putting together the perfect sports betting blog

Putting together the perfect sports betting blog

Let’s first start by saying that the world has too many blogs. It has way too many sports blogs, too many humor blogs, and too many blogs about nothing. The world does not need another sports betting blog by any measure, unless of course the blog is going to be new, interesting, and incredibly useful to the betting public at large. So what goes into making a sports betting blog that we can actually use and that we won’t grow tired of? It’s not easy, that’s for sure.

Bring some local flavor to the sports betting blog
If you are going to create something compelling and worth keeping up with, then you need to bring your own local items to the table. Do you know something about a team or a school that no one else could possibly know? What if I want to bet on the University of Georgia and its Bulldogs? Are you the guy who can tell me everything that I need to know, all in your sports betting blog? If that’s the case, then you have a good start. If you

College Football Rankings For Next Season

College sports have always been a popular way for people to pass time and enjoy themselves. College sports are also important to the people who are more than serious about their sports. College players are good to get familiar with as they may one day be in the Major Leagues. College football rankings of this year are varying only a little from poll to poll. Most of these poll’s top three are basically the same teams only slightly out of order from poll to poll. The statistics and information in this report are from the two top polls: The Associated Press Poll and the USA Today Poll. They show many similarities and were both taken recently to this writing.

At the top of both of these polls is the Louisiana State Tigers. This team has drawn in over a thousand votes on both polls. Last year they were prospected as the second best team in the college football world, but they have worked they way up to first this year. The second pick on Associated Press

College Football – Alabama & Florida Barely Win, 12 Others Put on Muscle Shirts & Strut Their Stuff

College Football – Alabama & Florida Barely Win, 12 Others Put on Muscle Shirts & Strut Their Stuff

There was only one real upset in college football’s 8th week of play as 12 of the 20 top-ranked teams put on their muscle shirts and showed what they have, a sure sign that teams have begun to stabilize for their last 4 games.

Only 21st-ranked Texas Tech was caught flat-footed at home by unranked Texas A&M, 52-30. The Red Raiders (now 5-3) were favored by 22 and lost by 22, a 44-point negative swing that sent Texas Tech reeling. The Texas A&M Aggies meant business, piling up a 38-22 lead after 3 quarters, and then outscoring the Red Raiders 14-8 in the 4th quarter.

Texas A&M was trounced 62-14 last week by Kansas State and decided to take it out on Texas Tech. The high score was no real surprise; both teams came in as scoring machines—Tech was ranked 2nd nationally at 41 ppg, and A&M was 19th at 33 ppg. A&M piled up 559 yards of offense and Tech 520; the contest was strictly offensive with a combined

The Top March Madness Highlights Of The Past Decade

With March Madness right around the corner, it is a great time to recap some of the best games and moments of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship. Although NCAA basketball clips may bring back bad memories, one thing is for sure – they will get you excited for this year’s tournament. As a starting place, here are a few of my personal favorite March Madness basketball highlights from the past decade:

2005 Championship: North Carolina vs. Illinois.
Wow! UNC is able to win it’s fourth title while Roy Williams win his first. A great match up – Sean May put up 26 points and Carolina shut out Illinois in the last 2 1/2 minutes to win by 5.

2009 Elite Eight: Villanova vs. Pitt.
Just last year during the Boston Regional Finals. This one definitely went down to the wire. After Pitt’s Levance Fields tied the game with 2 free throws, Scottie Reynolds took it all the way and laid it in at the buzzer to take Villanova to the Final Four. Talk about buzzer

Gators Have Some Things to Cheer About

Gators Have Some Things to Cheer About

It’s no secret that the Florida Gators had a tough end to their basketball season a few weeks ago. OK, so that knocked a little wind out of everybody. But there’s more to Gator life than basketball. Gator basketball will get stronger and more experienced While we wait, there’s great gymnastics, thank goodness!

Let’s take, for example, the gymnastics team. They have been on fire in the SEC tournament and have been wearing down the #1 Georgia Bulldogs. Even though the Gators are #2, they are closing in on the Bulldogs.

The Gators posted the top score of the NCAA tournament today, and even had Bulldogs fans cheering. They advanced to the NCAA Super Six for the 4th time in five years.

Coach Rhonda Faehn is confident in her team. “They are healthier than they have been in the past 6 years while in the tournament,” Faehn has said. Their performance has

The A to Z’s of Betting

The A to Z’s of Betting

Each week Doc’s Sports will take a look at the sports betting world in an A-Z format.

A – Anderson, Derek. Be honest – could you have named Cleveland’s backup QB before last Sunday? Anderson may have been an anonymous player on an anonymous team, but he announced himself when he entered the game in relief of the injured Charlie Frye. His team was down by 14, so he led two touchdown drives in the last nine minutes, and then set up the winning field goal in overtime with an impressive scramble. Quarterback controversy?

B – BCS. As a diehard Michigan fan, this is not my favorite topic these days. We got screwed, and nothing you can say will change my mind. On the plus side, the national title game just became very easy to handicap. Ohio State is a bargain at anything less than two touchdowns.

C – Cowboys. Tony Romo looked mortal for the first time, the offense struggled at times, and the Giants looked better on offense than they have in a

The Meaning of Auburn Tigers Football

HIghlights from the Georgia Bulldogs’ 2002 season.

The Meaning of Auburn Tigers Football

You just have to know Auburn – the Town, the University, and the Tradition – to truly understand Auburn Football and what it really means. Let me try to explain . . .

My earliest memories of Auburn are from about 1955. I remember walking down College Street from my aunt’s house, having a lemonade and grilled-cheese sandwich at Toomer’s Drug Store lunch counter, and then going to the Tiger Theatre (across the street) and seeing “Gone With The Wind.” I have very fond memories of summers in Auburn. This is why I understand what it means to be not only a fan of Auburn, Alabama, but of the Auburn Tigers!

Auburn Football has one of the most storied histories in not only the “Deep South” but in all of college football. We will start with the oldest rivalry in Deep South Football and in college athletics. Auburn and Georgia first played on February 20, 1892, in Piedmont Park in Atlanta! Since 1898, the Auburn Tigers have played the Georgia
